Socompa Prospect
The Socompa Prospect is located in the Taca Taca District. The company conducted surface sampling expeditions and geochemical assays, which revealed mineralization and alterations consistent with the presence of a hydrothermal system. The area is known to host a cluster of Cu-Au porphyries. The licenses are adjacent to First Quantum’s Vendaval Project.
Llullaillaco Prospect
Southern Cross Exploration holds 17,000 hectares in the Llullaillaco area. The majority of the licenses cover a vast alluvial fan that extends to the Llullaillaco Salar to the east, where Ganfeng Lithium’s Mariana Project is under development. It is likely that permeable units beneath the alluvial deposits could host lithium brines. No geophysical surveys have been conducted yet.
Uranio Prospect
The Uranio Prospect is located in the valley of the Tonco River. Just five kilometers to the east, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) operated the Don Otto uranium mine from 1961 to 1982. The deposit is located in the Balbuena Subgroup, which consists of sandstones, shales, and limestones; uranium mineralization is found within these units. The company holds several licenses covering these units, and legacy data also indicate uranium occurrences along the riverbanks.
Acay Prospect
The Acay Norte District features skarn-type mineralizations within Cretaceous limestones (Yacoraite Formation) and the Proterozoic basement (Puncoviscana Formation). The area includes a system of ancient mines, such as Barro Negro, Encrucijada, and Saturno, situated south of Cerro Acay. Additionally, altered volcanic rocks from the Negra Muerta Formation are present. A notable Neogene skarn is located on the southern slopes of Nevado de Acay in the La Poma department, see more…
